Women in Business: Peyton Thorp

The blog is back!! We're diving into month 3 of 2019, and that means getting our butts in gear & creating meaningful content right here on this blog - starting with introducing you to our newest (and first) hire!

When I moved to Raleigh exactly 2 years ago, my roommate from Asheville told me I just HAD to meet her college friend, Peyton. Thankfully, she'd told Peyton the same thing because I kept forgetting to call her! I'm not sure how long it took us to actually get together following my move, but once we did - we became instant friends. And, boy was I grateful! Fast forward a year and a half or so, and Peyton and I found ourselves at a cookie swap party last December. I mentioned to Peyton how, though grateful for the uptick in busyness recently, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed and would love to bring someone on board to help out. But WHERE would I find this mysterious person? Dear Peyton mentioned she was actually looking for additional creative pursuits, loved my brand, and wanted to learn more. Three months later, I'm still not sure how I've convinced her to join this crazy ride, but I'm beyond thankful she did.

Meet: Peyton

meet peyton, our new wholesale accounts manager

Name: Peyton Thorp

What do you do at Mary Frances Flowers?

I am the Wholesale Accounts Manager. I handle all wholesale orders, inquiries and landing new accounts!

What you like most about what you do?

I love interacting with people in the retail business and sharing all of what MFF has to offer! It’s also a perk working with Mary Frances on a weekly basis… :)

What are your other creative pursuits?

I am a watercolor artist and illustrator and started Peyton’s Post, a stationery and custom art business, about a year and half ago. I sell notecards, prints and original work, but the majority of my business is custom work. So I get to work with clients on a variety of projects including invitations, wedding materials, animal portraits, you name it!

Where do you find inspiration?

Too many to list! Definitely places I’ve traveled to both near and far. We vacation at Wrightsville Beach so I get tons of ideas from being on the coast.  I also grew up riding horses, so the equestrian lifestyle and community has always been a source of inspiration for me.

If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be?

Greece or go on an African safari

What’s your most treasured accessory? Is there a story behind it?

A diamond ring that was my mom’s original engagement ring. We got it re-set for my 21st birthday. I still only wear it on occasion, I’m too afraid to lose it!

Favorite dessert?

Tie between Ben and Jerrys chocolate fudge brownie ice cream and Hayes Barton heath bar cake. I also love dirt pudding.

Favorite MFF piece?

The Oyster Necklace!

Thanks for sharing, Peyton! And if you're interested in carrying MFF in your store, be sure to contact Peyton peyton.thorp@gmail.com, and she'll be happy to help!
