Origin of the Lion Constellation Necklace

The Lion Constellation Necklace has a unique hold on me within the Mary Frances Maker Anniversary Collection. The origin story is a bit of a saga. I created a cuff that I fell absolutely head over heels in love with, in my first year of business. It was a cuff with the head of a lion carved into it - something I adored so much that I considered making it the face of my entire brand.

Well, as things happen, the Lion Cuff somehow went missing during production. I'm not sure if it fell out of the box, got lost in a drawer, or what, but the Lion Cuff disappeared. My devastated heart couldn't bear to recreate it. I knew the magic of that piece was a one-time deal, and I'd never be able to duplicate that luscious mane I'd once carved out of wax. ⠀⠀

I'm a firm believer that when one door closes, another opens, and I feel it was fate that pushed me to create another Lion oriented piece. The first Lion Cuff inspired the diamond Lion Constellation Necklace, and I like to think of it as the worthy successor to my first real jewelry love.

The diamonds are set in the pattern of the constellation of the lion - a twofold meaning. One, this necklace holds personal meaning to me as it represents how much I cannot control in this life or this business (like the lost Lion Cuff). And two, it's a talisman of sorts, a reminder that I am strong and fierce as a lion, and that I can take on anything - and that you can, too.
The Lion Constellation Necklace has is beautiful as an everyday piece, but I think it really shines stacked up with the Birch Drip Necklace in either gold or silver.
