Monthly Drop VII: Textures, Squiggles, and a Little Bit of Chaos
When I sat down to design Monthly Drop VII, I didn’t exactly sit down. In reality, I was knee-deep in a bathroom renovation (if you watch our MFM Lives on Instagram, you know that this is thanks to a surprise patch of mold that gave me the perfect (and necessary) excuse to completely gut and redo the space). Between dust clouds, tile samples, and way too many trips to the hardware store, I started to notice how much inspiration was tucked into the chaos of my new daily life.
This collection—four yellow brass cuffs—is a reflection of that season. Simple in material (brass, to keep things accessible in a time when everything feels more expensive), but full of play when it comes to texture and shape.
Tile Texture Cuff: inspired by the tactile feel of the tile we chose for the new bathroom. Running my hands over those surfaces made me want to translate that same sense of touch into metal.
Squiggle Cuff: borrowed from the wavy towel racks and toilet paper holders of my favorite company—proof that utility objects can be beautiful, even whimsical.
Kitchen Clean-Out Cuff: in the middle of construction chaos, I also decided to deep-clean our kitchen drawers (because why not add more madness?). I found myself curious to see how a cheese grater and zester would come across when used on my jeweler's wax, and some of that grit snuck into this piece making stripes across the surface.
Bubble Cuff: a design that’s lived in sketches and proposals for ages but never quite made it to the finish line—until now. It's a statement piece with room for added stones in the gypsy setting... a dream custom project!
Monthly Drop VII is about finding beauty in the unexpected—in the curve of a towel rack, the surface of a tile, the bubbles sketched in a notebook margin. These cuffs carry the imprint of a messy, transitional moment, made permanent in brass. Mark your calendars for September 9th, launching in our Instagram stories!
